Across the Nation Years later, still not the same..

As a child I remember going to the apple orchard every year, and even more than once a year a few years. I remember walking through the rows of trees, picking apples. I remember coming back to the main place and stand in line for some good donuts and apple cider. I remember the bees and how I hated that part. I also remember the place we would go to would have some animals and also can't forget the hayride. That was Michigan! 2,000 miles away in California this past weekend we took Trevor to pick some apples. The first place we went to we weren't allowed to pick, but we did buy some cider, but it wasn't made there, it was shipped in frozen. No donuts plus it was expensive, 15 dollars for a half bag of apples. So we went to a different place. We can pick our own there, and it was cheap, 75cents a pound. So we took five minutes and we had 11 pounds of apples. It was windy and chilly. No hayrides, no cider at this place, no donuts and no hayrides. The good thing, no bees. So it wasn't the same as I remember. How things change overtime and how things are as good as you remember when you were a child. The most important thing though was Trevor had fun.

I took my first graders to a really nice pumpkin farm when I was teaching in CA but I can't remember where it was or the name of it-sorry. I also remember those trips to the pumpkin farms/apple orchards too growing up and was happy to find out that there are a few in my area here in TX and my gym (Lifetime Fitness) even is having a pretty nice harvest festival so that is where we are taking Meadow this year.

I looked up on my schools web site and the Kindergarten class still goes to the same farm. It is called Amy's farm and it is in the Chino area. The website is amysfarm.com. It has pumpkins and a petting zoo and some educational stuff about farming too. Sorry no apples or cider though at least not that I remember.
